Who we are
We are the Trustees of Engels House at 122 Regent’s Park Road in Primrose Hill, London. After the death of Caroline Read in 2020, the House was left in Trust to honour Engels’ legacy. We are in the process of becoming a charity as the Amy Read Trust.
Caroline Read lived in the house for more than 30 years and was very proud of its association with Engels. Caroline was a well known resident of Primrose Hill and will be remembered for her involvement in saving the local library. Caroline was a school librarian who was deeply committed to children’s literacy believing every child should have access to books, a warm home and a decent chance in life.
The Trust’s mission is to promote the historical, educational and political significance of the life, legacy and work of Friedrich Engels, and his collaborations with Karl Marx.
We aim for Engels House to become an important heritage and educational resource - connecting Primrose Hill and the wider Camden community with Engels’ life, ideas and enduring influence.
